The Pizza Squad
Why the name: "PizzaSquad"?
We are called the PizzaSquad, because we all love pizza. Since we’re younger, pizza is our favourite food. We all love pizza margarita, that’s a pizza with cheese.
What do we have in common?
We are all 13 years old. We all like sport, but we all do different sports. Riley plays football, Menno likes playing badminton and running, Nadia also loves football and Indy loves playing hockey. We all have an younger brother or sister. We also are on the same education: TTA. Our class is amazing!
What’s TTA?
TTA is an education were you have 70% of the lessons in English and 30% of the lessons in another language. For example, Dutch, French, German and technology. Some subjects are really difficult in English, but after a while you get used to it.

Action plan
Reading research
What do we expect to find?
In our reading research
Our reading research is about multicultural schools. Multicultural schools are schools where children with all religions are accepted.
We expect to find that there are a lot of multicultural schools all over the world. We think that it’s important to have your childeren on a multicultural schools, because they can learn about different cultures.
We think that that schools are important for your education. We also think that there are more multicultural schools than ‘’white’’ schools. In Tilburg there are a lot of ‘’white’’ schools and multicultural schools. The Beatrix College is a multicultural school.
Multi-cultural school
The action ' black school are looking for white kids ' is needed much (unfortunately)
The hard reality is that we in the generally well educated South of Amsterdam have a remarkable separation between white and black schools less than ten minute bicycle ride from each other. The council apparently want to improve ‘white’ schools so they can accept more ‘white’ children. What do you mean importance of integration and a realistic reflection of our city
Some kids were in a white school in the riverneighbourhood. There were people being bullied and it still happens, we hear from parents. We do not tolerate schools letting their kids being bullied.
they are really doing good things. The teachers are working for the inspiring principle to make the school even better, if it is about mathematics or about language, education, bullying, social-emotions skills or talent development. From which religion you are, or what colour you are that doesn’t matter. They want to see their best capabilities. My message to all ‘white’ parents in the south of Amsterdam, do not look to the exterior of the school, but look at the interior of the school and you will be surprised.
Multi-cultural schools
A multicultural school is a school where people of several cultures are in. In the Netherlands are pretty many multicultural schools. Some schools close to our town are in Tilburg, Molenschot and Eindhoven. People in multicultural schools have a special way of lessons. The teachers have to be trained differently to become a teacher in a multicultural class, because some of the students don’t speak Dutch very good yet. The Netherlands may have a different way of teaching too, or there are some subjects which you have to learn in Holland, but not in countries like Turkey. Those subjects need to be teached differently or they can be left out.
Multi-cultural schools
In the Netherlands there are ‘white schools’ ‘black schools’ and ‘mixed schools’. A school is called a white school when 60% or more of the students are autochthonous. When 60% or more of the students in a school are immigrants, we call it a black school. A mixed school is a school where less than 60% of the students are autochthonous AND less than 60% immigrant. In the Netherlands the black schools and mixed schools are called multicultural schools.
Multi-cultural schools
Dutch children who go to a black school , are twice as likely to leave without a diploma in high school as children who go to a white or a mixed school . According to research by Maastricht University.
Students at the Maastricht University followed between 2000 and 2008 47,000 children on 241 primary schools in Amsterdam. From the oldest group of children she looked at how they performed at secondary school.
The result was that immigrants were more likely not to graduate from school than native children. It was obvious that native children that had been on a black school more often didn’t graduate at the secondary than native children that were on a white or mixed school.

Comparison
We would have liked to do a comparison, but unfortunately no one had the same subject. We have skyped with an Indian school, but they didn´t have this subject either.
That´s why we don´t have a real comparison

Conclusion
We learned a lot of our project about multicultural schools. In the beginning most of us didn’t even know what multicultural schools are and now we’ve made a whole project about it. We learned a lot about what it is and what’s going on in those schools by the reading research. Beside multicultural schools we found out what the difference is between white, mixed and black schools too .We also found out what’s the difference between multicultural schools in the Netherlands and in other countries. By making a survey we found out what other people in the Netherlands think about multicultural schools and their ideas. This was also a good way to find answers to things that we didn’t know yet.

The answers to our research questions are:
- If you learn in a multicultural school you don´t only learn about the main subjects they teach you, but you also learn about other people and the origin/religion.
- In our area there´s a huge difference in religion and origin. There are especially Christians and Muslims.
- Everyone in this area has the same rights, in the Netherlands origin and religion doesn´t matter.
- No, there´s not really a culture represented in our school.
- There are not many rules, you can´t wear burkas or other headgear in school.
- In our school people with other religions get exactly the same lessons and treatment.
- Children in this school can learn from children with other religion.
- No, the government doesn´t have any policy as regards of multicultural schools.
